The main goal of the
site is to house and facilitate subnet addressing in order to resolve issues
with the location’s VLAN. The site will make use of 10.20.0.0/16 so the range
will start at that IP address. The site has three (3) switches, one (1) router,
and four (4) VLANs and 288 devices that are subject in the following
configuration.  

 

Proposed Technologies and Solutions

The site’s current CIDR
is /16 which means that the total number of hosts is 65,534. After getting
these results, we will proceed with the sub-netting of the IP addresses. We
will take into consideration the first and last IP addresses of each subnet and
make the break into /24 groups. This type of sub-netting allows the highest
quantity of hosts and it will also allow that each of the four VLANs have its
own subnet. This will help the network administration because it will be easier
to manage or troubleshoot. It will help identify the IP addresses because you
will know to which VLAN it belongs. There will be room for future expansion
because sub-netting also offers this capability. “Sub netting enable the
creation of numerous logical networks that exist inside a single Class A, B, or
C network.” 1. with all of this information provided, the engineer will be
able to easily implement this technology.

Within
Boston site, the network team are responsible for implementing routing protocol
that manage the devices, topology, and traffic inside its own network. The site
presently utilizing three cisco routers that require t configuration and 362
devices is within this location. In order to complete the requested tasks, all
of this need to be taken into consideration.

 

Proposed Technologies and Solutions

A.   
Routing
Protocol: There are different types of routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP,
and RIP. OSPF which is used in internet protocol and runs as an active routing
protocol. Particularly used in the network of big institutions and companies.
2. EIGRP based on IGRP is a Cisco proprietary routing protocol. This type of
routing protocol allows distance vector and minimizes the use of bandwidth
while maintaining good speed and reallocation during process. RIP is usually
used in Local area networks as well as Wide area networks. This type is a very
basic routing protocol and is not as sophisticated as the other types. For this
site, we would implement the EIGRP type which stands for Enhanced Interior
Gateway routing protocol; this type meets the requirements because it connects
and shares data with other routers in order to facilitate access and save time.
It is also perfect for large networks and organizations such as this network.

Topology:
During the moment that all the devices are connecting to routers two (2) and three
(3) which is not ideal.  Switches are
required to be added to provide the administrator with extra level of security
and access control. Immediately these devices are set in place, managing and
countertrolling the networking will become a lot easier to handle. This will ensure
access and reduce errors in each subnet within the Boston’s network.
